Shedeur Sanders will be playing his sophomore year with the Cleveland Browns under new coach, Todd Monken. After the team fired Kevin Stefanski, they hired the former Ravens offensive coordinator as his replacement.
However, even before beginning this new chapter, Emmanuel Acho had a controversial message for the rookie quarterback. He questioned why Shedeur Sanders should listen to Todd Monken as he takes over the reins. However, analyst Jason Whitlock said that Acho is trying to promote the same message of “rebellion” as the BLM movement.
“Emmanuel Acho’s trying to tell Shedeur and young black players to rebel against Todd Monken. He’s promoting the same message as BLM. Rebel against authority. Acho thought he would win over social media, but it failed miserably.”
In the video, Whitlock expressed his disagreement with Acho’s advice for Shedeur Sanders. He also shared his thoughts on what an ideal quarterback looks like.

“What Emmanuel Acho is basically arguing here is rebellion,” Whitlock said. “And that’s always the message to young black men. I talk about this all the time. And I talk about how football, particularly the quarterback position, is best played by men who are willing to submit. Who are willing to submit themselves to their head coach.
“Emmanuel Acho, trying to appeal to the culture, trying to appeal to social media, is actually arguing what has been popularized through Black Lives Matter and everything else of rebel, rebel, rebel. Don’t submit to authority.”
During his debut campaign with the Browns, Shedeur started in eight games and recorded 1,400 yards and seven TDs passing. They finished dead last in the AFC North with a 5-12 record.
In six seasons with the team, Kevin Stefanski put up a 45-56 overall record with just two playoff appearances. Earlier this month, he was hired as the new coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
Shedeur Sanders shares his thoughts on Pro Bowl selection as a rookie
Despite seeing limited playing time on the field as a rookie, Shedeur Sanders earned his first Pro Bowl honors. He was finalized as a replacement quarterback for the AFC, as Drake Maye competes in Super Bowl LX, while Josh Allen and Justin Herbert both tend to injuries.
After his selection, the rookie quarterback expressed his excitement about participating in the Pro Bowl games.
“Thank you God,” Shedeur said as per the team’s website. “I’m beyond excited and extremely grateful for all the love and support from the coaches, players and fans. This wouldn’t be possible without the support behind me. Still plently of work to do.”
Shedeur is also the first Browns quarterback since Derek Anderson in 2007 to make the Pro Bowl. What remains to be seen is whether Todd Monken confides in him as the QB1 for the upcoming season.
