Brett Favre and Deion Sanders played together for one season when they were with the Atlanta Falcons in 1991. At the time, Favre was a rookie quarterback, while Sanders had established himself as one of the top cornerbacks in the league.

On Monday, Favre revealed how Sanders took him under his wing at Atlanta and helped him grow as a signal-caller.

“I say this about Deion, and this is the side of Deion that a lot of people don’t know, or would never know,” Favre said on his “4th and Favre” podcast. “When I was with Atlanta, I was a rookie, and he took me under his wing. Why? I don’t know, but he did.

But Deion told me, one of the first days of training camp, ‘I’ll give you $5 for every pass you can complete on me.’ And he did that because, you know, he wanted my best. He really wanted to, you know, to get some work in. And so I tell people all the time, I think at the end of the year, I owed him.

After one season with the Falcons, Favre was traded to the Green Bay Packers, where he played for 16 seasons and won the Super Bowl in 1997.

Favre also played one year with the New York Jets and two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He retired after the 2010 season.

Sanders, on the other hand, won two Super Bowls. His first win was with the San Francisco 49ers in 1995, and his second was with the Dallas Cowboys in 1996.

Both Favre and Sanders are inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Deion Sanders is currently in his third year as Colorado’s coach. His Buffaloes are 14th in the Big 12 with a 3-6 (1-5) record.

Last season, Sanders helped establish CU as one of the best programs in the country. Colorado also produced the Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter.

While this season has been somewhat of a struggle for Colorado, Sanders will hope to lead the team to six wins to qualify for a bowl game.
