Brooks Koepka made his long awaited comeback on the PGA Tour on Thursday at Torrey Pines in the Farmers Insurance Open.

All eyes were on Koepka in La Jolla on Thursday afternoon, as he made his first PGA Tour start since June 2022.

The reaction among the players to his return has been mixed.

Hideki Matsuyama was shocked to see Koepka back on the PGA Tour so quickly.

Meanwhile, world number one Scottie Scheffler lauded Koepka’s return, suggesting that it’s a good thing for the PGA Tour.

Koepka himself is extremely happy to be back on the PGA Tour, and he actually seemed fairly relaxed at Torrey Pines on Thursday during day one of the Farmers Insurance Open.

How fans reacted to Brooks Koepka during his PGA Tour return

Koepka put in a solid, if not spectacular, performance on day one of the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday.

He posted a round of one-over-par 73 in his first round back on the PGA Tour.

Golf fans took to the golf course in their thousands to see Koepka back in action on the PGA Tour.

However, was the former LIV player well received at Torrey Pines?

Sky Sports’ on-course commentator Inci Mehmet provided us all with the answer to that question.

I think there is a lot of positivity, Mehmet explained.

Plenty of excitement. You can see a lot of fans trying to lean over the ropes just trying to get a glimpse of him.

He has definitely been the needle mover of this tournament.

The long road back begins now for Brooks Koepka

Koepka will be delighted with the support he received in Southern California on Thursday.

Now it will be all about the 35-year-old getting back to the daily grind and returning to a level where he believes he’s capable of winning again.

We all know he has the talent and he’s quite obviously a big tournament player, with five major championships to his name.

Who knows, Koepka may well contend to win this week at Torrey Pines.

However, considering the length of time he has been away from the PGA Tour, and the pressure he’s under this week, that will be highly unlikely.

Koepka will have to be patient, as will his fans.
