Joaquin Niemann might just be the very best golfer LIV Golf has to offer at this moment in time.
While big star names like Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau naturally take plenty of headlines, Chilean star Niemann has quietly gone about his business in tremendous fashion.
Niemann has won seven times on the LIV tour, including five last season to add to the two in 2024.
Is this the end of LIV Golf?
However, just because you are the top dog in the field doesn’t always mean everything goes your way.
And back in 2024, Niemann was left ruing a costly error that on another occasion might have seen him removed from the golf tournament altogether.

Joaquin Niemann’s near disqualification on LIV Golf in 2024
Plenty of top golfers have fallen foul of rulings over the years and some of the biggest names in the sport have been removed from events for infringing those rules.
Golf rules can be complex at times and it is little wonder we often see golfers call over officials to sort things out.
However, at The LIV Mexico event in 2024, LIV star Niemann was almost given his marching orders.
Having taken relief from a cart path, Niemann was afforded the standard one club length drop off the path but as he did so, he seemed to take an extra step to the side.
At the time, it was missed but after reviewing video footage, officials decided that the Chilean had indeed broken the rules.
However, Niemann was lucky. Instead of being given a DQ, he was instead collared by officials the next morning and duly accepted a two stroke penalty rather than risk anything further.
He remained in the tournament and quite remarkably, still ended up winning after seeing off Sergio Garcia in a playoff.

Joaquin Niemann has to start contending at majors
Many have suggested that Joaquin Niemann is as good as anything the PGA Tour has on offer but unfortunately for him, we can’t really measure it.
While ever he is playing on LIV, Niemann’s value will be less and crucially, whenever he underperforms in a major championship, it only adds weight to those who argue against his class.
Which of these LIV Golf stars would you least like to see back on the PGA Tour?
Of course, winning so many events on LIV is a feat in itself but until he starts to contend in the big ones, he will fly under the radar.
With LIV moving to 72 holes in 2026, it will be interesting to see if Niemann can indeed keep pace and carry on his remarkable winning run.
