How LIV Golf will respond to Bryson DeChambeau’s $500 million demands

It is surely not an overstatement to say that LIV Golf could be in big trouble if Bryson DeChambeau decides to walk away when his contract expires at the end of the year.

LIV Golf has perhaps never been in a more precarious position. The departure of Brooks Koepka has seen the league lose one of its biggest stars.

And Brian Rolapp made sure that the door was open for the likes of Cameron Smith, Jon Rahm, and Bryson DeChambeau to follow him back to the PGA Tour.

It seems, based on comments made on Tuesday, none of the trio are going to take the PGA Tour CEO up on his offer. Nevertheless, the LIV Golf hierarchy will not be allowing themselves to relax.

LIV Golf’s stance on paying Bryson DeChambeau $500 million

Bryson DeChambeau is in a fantastic position right now. His contract expires after this upcoming season, so he holds all of the cards.

Koepka reportedly paid $30 million to end his LIV contract early. So the Crushers captain looks set to avoid paying a similar fee by hanging around.

And you would imagine that the PGA Tour would keep the door open if DeChambeau becomes available in a year.

With that, it is no surprise that DeChambeau is reportedly demanding $500 million to sign a new contract with LIV.

And according to a report from The Telegraph, LIV are expected to meet his demands to ensure that the two-time US Open champion stays.

Rory McIlroy claimed that LIV face paying out $6 billion over the coming years just to remain where they are now.

McIlroy’s critics would perhaps suggest that he was being overly dramatic. But the situation surrounding DeChambeau certainly begins to back up the Northern Irishman’s claim.

According to Golf Monthly, it was reported that DeChambeau signed with LIV for $125 million in 2022.
