“‘I didn’t understand any of it”: TPUSA’s Kid Rock shares honest feelings on Bad Bunny after taking on Super Bowl halftime show

Kid Rock reacts to Bad Bunny

Kid Rock, as it turns out, did catch a glimpse of Bad Bunny’s halftime performance at Super Bowl LX on Sunday. However, he left with a negative impression of it.

Speaking on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” on Monday, the veteran country singer, who was the headliner of Turning Point USA’s alternative mini-concert, said about the Puerto Rican rapper’s mostly Spanish-language set:

“Like most people, I didn’t understand any of it. I saw there’s a lot of dancers and a lot of big to-do stuff. And, you know, he said he wanted to have a dance party; it looked like he had one.”

He continued:

“Not my cup of tea, but I don’t fault that kid for doing the Super Bowl, getting in front of a global audience. I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. You know, it’s just — poor kid.”

Craig Carton, country stars blast Kid Rock’s “embarrassing” TPUSA Super Bowl halftime show

TPUSA had touted its Kid Rock-bannered halftime show as an “All-American” alternative for those who felt that the official one felt overly commercialized. Yet it still managed to draw criticism from many, including some prominent figures.

Speaking on “WFAN on SNY” on Monday, Craig Carton said:

“And I got to be honest, I love country music, and I like Kid Rock. That was embarrassing, what Kid Rock did. He didn’t sing a single song. He, like, pretended to have the mic and then the mic was over here away from his body. And he’s still singing. … I don’t know, man. Not great.”

Even some of Rock’s peers in country music disliked his performance. Kacey Musgraves claimed that she preferred Bad Bunny over him:

“Well. That made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done.”

Well. That made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done.

Meanwhile, in a since-deleted Instagram Story, Zach Bryan wrote:

“I don’t care what side you’re on, a bunch of adults throwing temper tantrums and their own halftime show is embarrassing as hell and the most cringe (expletive) on the planet.”

The “All-American Halftime Show” drew 25 million viewers, according to a statement released by TPUSA on Monday. The organization also confirmed that it would return for 2026/27.
