Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders made a shocking revelation on Friday. In a YouTube video released by Coach Prime’s eldest son, Deion Jr., his head of security, Michael Rhodes, addressed players about facility access protocols.

Sanders then told his football team that he receives multiple death threats every single day.

“We get death threats all the time,” Sanders said. “Why? I’m a Black man making it happen, making things move, making all that happen. So we have stuff that’s real.”

The Buffaloes’ coach then asked his bodyguard how many death threats he receives daily.

“About five every day,” Rhodes said.

Rhodes asked the players to be mindful of who comes in with them when they enter the facility. He advised them not to let somebody coerce them into scanning them up on the floor, as everybody is trying to get to Deion Sanders. He previously served as a police officer at Jackson State, where Sanders coached before his December 2022 arrival in Boulder.

Sanders led the Buffaloes to a 3-9 record in the 2025 season, his worst in three years. He posted a 4-8 record in his first season and went 9-4 in 2024.

Deion Sanders urged to take over as the Cleveland Browns HC

The Cleveland Browns fired Kevin Stefanski after a 5-12 season. The AFC North franchise has been struggling to land a coach since then. The Browns have spoken with multiple candidates, including defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and former Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel.

On Friday’s episode of “The Craig Carton Show,” radio personality Craig Carton said the rejections might be due to coaches’ hesitation to work with the rookie quarterback. He proposed a solution that would benefit both the two-time Super Bowl champion and his son.

“Why not just say, ‘Hey Deion Sanders, would you leave Colorado and come be the coach of the Cleveland Browns? Maybe you wanna coach Shedeur Sanders,” Carton said.

Deion Sanders has previously said he would consider an NFL job if it meant coaching his sons. The Browns QB slid to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft after entering as a consensus top-three pick. He did not get his first start until Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens in November. He started the next seven games and posted a 3-4 record.
