“I’m just missing a little, little part”: Aryna Sabalenka optimistic about learning from ‘tough lessons’ ahead of US Open

Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka has seen a lot of heartbreak this season. Despite winning 50 out of 60 matches across different competitions this year, the 27-year-old has only managed to win three events. While three events in a calendar year is an outstanding record for some players, it is not for a player like Sabalenka, who has featured in nine semifinals in 2025 and lost just two of them.

Out of the three Grand Slams, Sabalenka has lost in the final in two of them. At the Australian Open, she came second-best against America’s Madison Keys, who emerged victorious with a score of 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. Then at the French Open, Sabalenka lost to another American player, Coco Gauff, in the final with a score of 6-7, 6-2, 6-4. During that contest, Sabalenka ended up making 70 unforced errors.
