Kenneth Walker III signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency, reports confirmed on Monday. The former Seattle Seahawks running back reportedly signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Chiefs.

However, NFL insider Pete Prisco is not fully convinced by Kansas City’s decision to bring in Walker this offseason, given the money the team spent on him.

“You can find (running) backs, you can draft them,” Prisco said on “NFL on CBS,” on Monday. “Now, there is a lot of talk out there that this is not a great deal for running backs, so I’ll give you that. … I’m not paying a running back that kind of money for a guy. Particularly, a guy who, for most of last year, was just a guy.

“And for most of his career, he’s had injury problems and just been a guy. He was great in the playoffs, you can’t take that away from him.”

The Seahawks drafted Walker in the second round in 2022. He helped Seattle win the Super Bowl last year and won the MVP award in the big game.

The Chiefs want to offer some support to their superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, who failed to lead the franchise to the playoffs for the first time in his career in 2025. By signing Kenneth Walker III, Kansas City is getting an offensive weapon who can also contribute as a wideout.

In his four years with Seattle, Walker recorded 3,555 yards and 29 touchdowns on 821 carries, along with 1,005 yards and two touchdowns on 133 receptions across 58 regular-season games.

Walker has also posted 376 yards and five touchdowns on 80 attempts in four playoff games.
