“I’m quarterback proof”: DeAndre Hopkins gets honest on ditching Lamar Jackson for $330,000,000 QB in 2026 amid uncertain future in Baltimore

DeAndre Hopkins gets honest on ditching Lamar Jackson for $330,000,000 QB in 2026 amid uncertain future in Baltimore

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins joined the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year, $5 million deal in March. After an 8-9 campaign without a postseason appearance, he has yet to receive an extension, raising questions about his future with the franchise.

However, on Monday on the “Up & Adams” show, DeAndre Hopkins was open to the idea of joining the Buffalo Bills. The wide receiver believes that he could have great chemistry with quarterback Josh Allen, who signed a six-year extension worth $330 million last March.

“Me and Josh Allen could do some damage for sure,” Hopkins said. “I’m a football guy, and Buffalo is a football team. Josh Allen is a football player. He is a player’s player, as what they say. So, you know, I think I’m quarterback proof, if I’m being honest. Give me a Josh Allen and, who knows?”

The Bills could not provide Josh Allen with reliable support in the WR position throughout the season. Their unit was considered average, as both Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman struggled with productivity. In the end, the quarterback had to make Superman plays on several occasions, which helped the team qualify for the playoffs.

However, the Bills 2025 campaign ended with a 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in a divisional round game. Allen ended the regular season recording 3,668 yards and 25 TDs passing while rushing for 579 yards and 14 TDs.This loss also led to coach Sean McDermott’s firing after nine years with the franchise, as they continue their hunt for his replacement.

DeAndre Hopkins might be past his prime. But the 33-year-old could be a solid addition for the Bills’ struggling wide receiver corps. In 13 seasons, he has recorded 13,295 yards and 85 TDs receiving. For the Ravens in 2025, Hopkins put up 330 yards and two touchdowns receiving.

DeAndre Hopkins gets honest about returning to play for the Ravens

The Ravens made a few coaching changes after failing to qualify for the playoffs. They fired coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons and brought in Jesse Minter as his replacement. They are also in the hunt for new offensive and defensive coordinators, as both Todd Monken and Zach Orr will not return as part of the coaching staff.

On the “Up & Adams” show, DeAndre Hopkins said that he would love to return for another season with the Ravens. But the wide receiver is not confident that the new offensive coordinator would want a veteran like him on the depth chart.

“You know, just the reality of it. Having a new offensive coordinator, being an older guy,” Hopkins said. “I know football and I know how the business, how it works. Of course I would love to come back, but not every offensive coordinator is wanting a veteran receiver on their team.

“Of course I love Baltimore. I would have loved to be used more. … It doesn’t upset me that I wasn’t. … But of course, I felt that I could have been used more, especiall the way Lamar (Jackson) and I started off the season. … I’m not closing the chapter. But we shall see.”

During the 2025 season, DeAndre Hopkins played in 17 games with three starts for the Ravens. Will he sign another extension with the team or decide to begin a new chapter in his career?
