Tiger Woods has shared the latest update on how close he is to returning to competitive golf. The veteran golfer said that if he was playing at Seminole, he was ready to be back.
On Sunday, March 1, Tiger Woods was at SoFi Center to support his team, Jupiter Links GC, in their penultimate league stage match against Boston Common Golf Club. During the ongoing game, he had a chat with ESPN’s Marty Smith, who asked him about his fitness update and how close he was to competing.
“If I’m playing a member guest, I’m ready to go,” he replied
Interestingly, the 15-time major champion is not listed on the tee sheet for the Seminole Pro-Member 2026, which will take place on Monday, March 2. This year’s star-studded field features the likes of Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, Nelly Korda, Tommy Fleetwood, Chris Gotterup, Sepp Straka, Collin Morikawa, Shane Lowry, Jacob Bridgeman, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Max Homa in action.
Earlier, Tiger Woods had spoken about his fitness in the past and stated that he was not ready to come back just yet. During the Genesis Invitational, he said “yes” to the possibility of competing in the Masters. Earlier in January, he had spoken about moving to short irons on the question of his rehabilitation.
“I need a little bit more than that to be able to play here. At my speed right now, I could probably play the Stinger hole. Just kind of roll it off the tee,” he said during TGL.
“But no, I’m progressing, which is nice. I’m getting there and getting stronger. It’s just one of those things where it just takes so much time for the bone to heal and the bone to set,” he added.
Recently, the ace golfer admitted the challenge of making a comeback after a fused back, a replaced disc and ageing.
“And now I entered a new decade, so that number is starting to sink in and has us thinking about the opportunity to be able to play in a cart,” he said during TGL. “That’s something that, as I said, I won’t do out here on this tour because I don’t believe in it. But on the Champions Tour, that’s certainly that opportunity.”
Did Tiger Woods’ team qualify for the TGL playoff?
Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links GC failed to make it to the playoffs on Sunday after losing to Boston Common Golf Club in overtime. Following the regular holes, both teams were tied at 6-all, forcing the first overtime of the season.
In the first playoff hole, Keegan Bradley won the closest-to-the-pin challenge, but Akshay Bhatia equalized for Jupiter Links after winning the second hole. However, Hideki Matsuyama claimed the decider and beat Max Homa by shooting just four inches closer.
Woods’ team isn’t completely out of the competition just yet, as they have one chance in their final game against Bay Golf Club. On the other hand, Boston Common has clinched the first seed in the playoffs. Defending champion Atlanta Drive GC is in second place with 5 points, followed by LAGC and Bay GC with four points each.
