Tiger Woods did not compete at the Genesis Invitational 2025, as he withdrew from the field due to injury. The 15-time major champion is set to miss this year’s edition, too, as he has not yet recovered from recent surgery.
The Genesis Invitational is returning to the Riviera Golf Course after being played at the Torrey Pines South Course. It will take place from Thursday, February 19, to Sunday, February 22, in Pacific Palisades. This is the second Signature Event of the season and will feature a whopping $20 million purse.
The veteran golfer has not competed in a professional event since The Open Championship 2024. The inaugural season of the TGL was the last competitive event he played in.
For the uninitiated, Tiger Woods underwent an L4-L5 disc replacement surgery on his lumbar spine last October.
“After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I consulted with Doctor and Surgeons to have tests taken,” he wrote on social media. “The scans determined that I had a collapsed disk in L4/5, disc fragments and a compromised spinal canal. I opted to have my disc replaced yesterday, and I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back,”
This was his second surgery in a year, as he had also undergone a procedure to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon ahead of the 2025 season. A few months prior to that, he had undergone a microdecompression surgery on his lumbar spine.
