Vijay Singh’s ex-caddie Kip Henley opened up about the Fijian golfer in this week’s episode of the Subpar podcast. The 62-year-old golfer became the talk of the town after an impressive performance at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
He competed in the season-opening PGA Tour event, which was held from Jan. 15 to 18. This week, Henley appeared on the podcast hosted by Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz and reflected on the hardworking nature of the Fijian golfer.
“Off-weeks for Vijay, you’re going to Jacksonville,” Henley said. “He’s getting down there, he’s in the gym at 6:30 and you show up at 7:30 on the range, bleary-eyed, and he’s already sweated 10 times and ready to go.
“He’s the most amazing guy I’ve ever worked [for],” he added. “He taught me something about discipline. I thought I was disciplined. I hit balls and practiced, did all the hand bleeding and all that crap. Dude. I didn’t touch his work ethic. It was insane.”
Kip Henley had worked for Vijay Singh back in 2017. The big Fijian had been pretty amazing with his game playing on the PGA Tour. He had won 34 tournaments on the circuit.
Meanwhile, at the 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii, Chris Kirk was phenomenal with his game and won the event by two strokes. He played the four rounds of 63, 69, 68, and 64. Ryan Gerard settled in solo second place, followed by Patrick Rodgers in third place
After making the cut in Hawaii, Vijay Singh shares an emotional note to his therapist
Vijay Singh shared a heartfelt message for his therapists after making the cut at the 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii. The Fijian golfer shared a picture with his trainers on Jan. 17 on his X (formerly Twitter) account along with a heartfelt caption.
“I owe a huge amount of gratitude to @theyassmethod for helping me to recover from my back, ankle and knee issues that I had last year. It was tough to get through most rounds, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done to get me competition ready in such a short timeframe,” he wrote.
“Since I started working with him in November, I can see the transformation of my mobility into the results you’ve watched this week. Here’s to continued heath and competing at the highest levels,” he added.
Vijay Singh started his campaign at the 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii with an opening round of 68. He then posted the rounds of 70, 68, and 69 to settle in a tied-40th place.
In his career, Vijay Singh has also won the Sony Open in Hawaii back in 2005. He won the event by a one-shot over Ernie Els.
