Retired Super Bowl XLIII champion Ryan Clark was visibly unhappy with the recent incident involving ICE officers in Minneapolis.
A 37-year-old man identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent after an altercation. According to reports, the ICE officers fired at him in “self-defense” as he was carrying a handgun during this altercation.
On X, Ryan Clark expressed his outrage with the situation. This was the second death in an ICE-related case in the past three weeks.
“It’s sickening. It’s sad!” Clark said.

Under Donald Trump’s administration, there has been a widespread crackdown on illegal immigrants over the past few months. Following the incident that resulted in the death of Alex Prettti, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz came forward to speak on the situation.
He said that the “self-defence” narrative provided by the Department of Homeland Security was all “lies” as a way to cover up the situation.
“What I see with my eyes and what you’re going to see with your eyes makes that pretty hard to believe,” Walz said. “I’ve seen the videos from several angles, and it’s sickening.”
Ryan Clark has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump. After his presidential election in 2024, the ex-Pittsburgh Steelers safety shared a clip on X criticising Trump’s administration and talking about his first presidency back in 2016.
“In (2016), I remember someone sitting in that office calling people that peacefully protested sons of b*****s and in 2020, in his last year, it wasn’t just about COVID to me, it was the most divided this country has ever been,” Clark said.
“I think now the difficult part is I do understand that not everyone that supports him believes in his rhetorics and everyone that supports him thinks bigotry is OK. They told me that he believes in Christian values. … For me, I’ll give him that grace because I do want salvation for all people. It’s going to be forever hard to respect the man- and I don’t and I won’t. But I will respect the office.”
Ryan Clark shares his unfiltered thoughts on Lamar Jackson leaving the Ravens
On Friday, on ESPN’s “First Take,” Ryan Clark and Cam Newton were discussing the future of the Baltimore Ravens and their quarterback, Lamar Jackson. The team fired John Harbaugh following an 8-9 record in 2025. Jackson also suffered multiple injuries, impacting his performance on the field.
The rumor mill has been churning about a potential trade this offseason. Cam Newton said that the quarterback might find a new home if the Ravens continue to fail. However, Ryan Clark quickly shut down this narrative while highlighting the importance of Jackson on the team.
“Here’s why that’s crazy: Lamar Jackson has been Lamar Jackson no matter who coaches,” Clark said. “The reason that John Harbaugh is gone is because everyone realizes Jackson’s greatness, his skills, his talent, …
“Lamar Jackson ain’t going nowhere. This team doesn’t play well in the next two years, they’ll get another head coach as long as Lamar Jackson is healthy and can be himself.”
In eight years, Lamar Jackson has made six playoff appearances with the team. This season, he recorded 2,549 yards and 21 TDs passing in the 13 games that he played.
