Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants suffered their ninth-straight loss in Week 16. They suffered a disappointing 16-13 loss at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium.
The rookie quarterback had an underwhelming showcase on Sunday while going against J.J. McCarthy and his team. In the postgame press conference, he was questioned about how he keeps his morale up despite the string of losses and his team’s disappointing 2025 record.
Dart shared an honest response, stating that it was something that he had not experienced previously.
“It’s just a new experience that I’ve never been through before,” Dart said. “It doesn’t make it any easier than what it is. Just trying to do your best to stay positive as much as you can. You know, there is this quick turnaround each week.

“So, I feel like the time is where, you know, you hang onto a loss too long, it goes into your next game in prep. So, that’s kind of just the mentality and process that we’re trying to have.”
Against the Vikings, Jaxson Dart completed seven of 13 passes for just 33 yards and no touchdowns. He also threw an interception and was sacked five times on the field. This was the rookie quarterback’s worst performance since replacing veteran Russell Wilson as the QB1 in Week 4.
The Giants have had their fair share of problems this season. In November, they fired coach Brian Daboll after a disappointing 2-8 start to the year. After Sunday’s loss to the Vikings, they hold last place in the NFC East with a 2-13 record.
Connor Hughes highlights Jaxson Dart’s regression phase after Brian Daboll’s firing
After the Week 16 game, NFL reporter Connor Hughes shared his honest thoughts on Jaxson Dart’s on-field performance since the firing of Brian Daboll.
He highlighted the decline in the rookie quarterback’s performance under interim coach Mike Kafka over the past few games.
“There was something during yet another miserable Giants season that you can cling to, to hope that this team would eventually turn it around,” Hughes said. “And it was that guy that lined up under center. It was Jaxson Dart. Ever since he took over as the starter against the Chargers, he seemed to do something every single week that made you truly believe that he was the guy.
“Well, in this loss here, … even Jaxson Dart is regressing. And in fact, that kind of syncs up exactly with when the Giants decided to fire Brian Daboll. Since that transition, … Dart is averaging 63 fewer passing yards per game, 15 fewer rushing yards per game. He’s averaging just one touchdown per game after averaging 2.4 with Daboll. And the turnovers are up as well.”
The Giants next face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
