Running back Jeremiyah Love is considered a top prospect in this year’s NFL draft. The New York Giants, who hold the fifth overall pick, are projected as a potential landing spot for the ex-Notre Dame star.
However, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Giants might not be the team for Love. According to him, the Washington Commanders would make more sense for the running back.
“To me, he is a top ten pick,” Schefter said on Monday on the ‘Pat McAfee’ Show. “I know a lot of people had him going to Tennessee. Again, it’s just not what I’m sensing right now. … There are a lot of teams that go back and forth on these things.
“Today, … I don’t see him going to Tennessee. I don’t see him going to the Giants at No. 5, although that would be an interesting spot, and I think he would have a lot of support there. To me, a place that makes sense today, a month out (before the draft), would be the Washington Commanders.

The Commanders hold the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft. Last season, they failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing third in the NFC East with a 5-12 record.
They’ve already added two players to bolster their RB room for 2026. Jerome Ford and Rachaad White agreed to a one-year deal each to play under coach Dan Quinn. Thus, the Commanders could look to find a future franchise star in this position by potentially drafting Jeremiyah Love.
Love spent his entire three-season collegiate stint with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He played in 41 games and recorded 2,882 yards and 36 touchdowns rushing.
Last season, he recorded 1,372 yards and 18 TDs rushing while his team finished with a 10-2 record, failing to make the playoffs. They also declined the invitation to play in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Love was honored as a Unanimous All-American for his performance.

Dan Orlovsky draws parallel between Jeremiyah Love and Jahmyr Gibbs
On Monday, former NFL player turned analyst Dan Orlovsky discussed Jeremiyah Love’s draft projection. On ESPN’s “Get Up,” he predicted the ex-Notre Dame star to be a top-five pick.
Orlovsky further explained his prediction by drawing a comparison with Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs, who was drafted 12th overall by the team in 2023.
“Jeremiyah Love is three inches taller (than Gibbs),” Orlovsky said. “He’s almost fifteen pounds heavier; he ran the same 40-time. So, if everyone now is okay with this, or is okay with the Lions taking Gibbs when they took him, Jeremiyah Love’s gonna go higher.
“I think he is a guy that instantly is 1500 yards on offense his rooke year, which is kind of what CMC (Christian McCaffrey) did his rookie year, Saquon Barkley did his rookie year, Leonard Fournette, Gibbs. I sit here and I go, realistically, I think Tennessee at four.”
The 2026 NFL draft takes place in Pittsburgh from April 23rd to 25th.
