Josh Allen is a major contributor to the Buffalo Bills’ on-field success this season. On Sunday, he helped his team to a 35-31 victory over the New England Patriots. The quarterback completed 19 of 28 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns.
However, the Bills’ defense has been a major cause of concern for coach Sean McDermott. They are ranked as the 12th best in terms of total defense, averaging 312.6 yards while allowing 39 touchdowns.
On Wednesday’s episode of the “Pat McAfee Show,” ex-NFL star J.J. Watt highlighted that the Bills’ defensive problems push Josh Allen to his limits and go into Superman mode in every game.
“I think the defense is the question (for the Bills),” Watt said. “I think on offense, I think their tight ends are such a massive key. … I do think there is enough on the offensive side of the ball, because Josh is Josh. The defense is where you start to wonder and question about it.

“If their defense can tighten it up, then that’s where it is. But like you said, Superman is Superman. And that Kansas City is not standing there in the way anymore. … It is what it is. It’s the reality.”
Last season, Josh Allen helped the Bills qualify for the playoffs with a 13-4 record. However, they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game. The quarterback recorded 3,731 yards and 28 TDs passing while rushing for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns.
This season, Allen has tallied 3,276 yards and 25 TDs passing, along with 535 yards and 12 TDs rushing. The Bills are currently second in the AFC East behind the Patriots with a 10-4 record.
Patriots WR Mack Hollins shares true feelings on Week 15 loss to Josh Allen and the Bills
Mack Hollins spent the 2024 campaign with Josh Allen and the Bills. In March, he agreed to a two-year deal to play for the Patriots.
In the postgame press conference, the veteran wide receiver did not mince his words while expressing his thoughts on the loss to his former team.
“Hey, once we watch the tape and analyze everything, flush it,” Hollins said. “Like there’s no sense. When you go to the bathroom, you don’t look at the s**t forever. Eventually, you got to push the handle.
“Yeah, it was a high intensity game. Again, they’re a good team in our division. So yeah, I guess this is as close as you can get.”
The Bills next face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
