There is a common misconception about Jordan Spieth.
Many golf fans believe that Spieth is a poor driver of the ball and always has been.
However, that’s far from the case. In fact, the 32-year-old American has been one of the best drivers on the PGA Tour in recent years.
So it goes without saying that any driving tips Spieth has to offer should be listened to intently by all amateur golfers.
What do you think is the real reason why Jordan Spieth has not won on the PGA Tour since 2022?
Spieth has been struggling with his game over the past few years but his driving really hasn’t been an issue.
In fact, it’s fair to argue that it has been a strength.

Jordan Spieth’s 5 key tips will help amateurs improve their driving
Spieth has been ranked outside the top 40 in strokes gained off the tee only once in the last four seasons.
Now we can all learn from what the three-time major champion does so well with a driver in his hands.
When writing a lengthy instructional column for Golf Digest, Spieth outlined his five key thoughts to help with improved driving…
1. LEFT HIP
From the start of the downswing, my left hip turns behind my torso.
It’s most noticeable at impact, and it signifies that my lower-body rotation is leading the way to the ball.
What you don’t want to see is the lead shoulder directly above the lead hip as you swing down. That’s a classic sign that the club is coming from outside the target line—and the ball’s going to slice.
2. FEET
Shifting toward the target on the downswing is critical, but not to be overlooked is what my feet do.
The toes of my left foot roll off the ground, allowing my weight to move into my left heel.
That allows me to straighten my lead leg so I can pivot my body and swing around that leg like a post. On the other side, the heel of my right foot is off the ground. That shows I’m pushing through for extra leverage into the ball.
3. CHEST
My hips really rotate through, but the upper half of my body doesn’t go as hard.
Also, my right shoulder is substantially lower than my left. Cam says these positions create a conduit for moving the energy I’ve created during the downswing out to the clubhead for maximum speed.
Head position and clubhead awareness are key
Two more tips from Spieth concern the way in which his head and, indeed, the clubhead move throughout the golf swing…

4. HEAD
There are two things to think about regarding my head position. The first is, despite a lot of lower-body thrust, my head remains in the position it would be at address.
If it didn’t remain pretty stable during the swing, center-face contact would be a serious challenge.
The second thing is, I need to stay behind the ball, as teachers say. It helps me square the clubface at impact and sling the club out to the ball.
5. CLUB
With a driver, you want to maximize your launch angle and carry distance. You also want your clubface to be very solid, looking at the ball.
Follow Spieth’s advice to improve your own driving.
When reading all of his tips above, it just goes to show how many factors there are behind good, consistent driving of the golf ball.
