Justin Thomas provided a health update on his social media handle. The American golfer underwent a microdiscectomy surgery last month and has since been away from the game. He was scheduled to play in the Skins Game but had withdrawn from the competition.

On Thursday, Thomas had posted an update about his progress. He shared a post on his Instagram. He shared a few videos and pictures of himself doing exercises, and in the caption, talked about the progress. Thomas wrote:

“Officially 4 weeks since my procedure. Was able to start a rehab schedule of 3 days a week last week, with treatment days in between. Nice to have a little something to build on and look forward to each day!”

Thomas further revealed that the rehabilitation started with “minimal movement.” He added:

“Rehab started with minimal movement and a lot of time on the floor breathing, and working on my core, while getting my glute/hamstrings firing. Minor rotation and leg/hip/glute strengthening started yesterday with some of the videos shown. A very slow process but have been pleased with the progress so far and continue to take it very conservative and listen to everything I’m feeling body wise.”

Justin Thomas also posted an “8 days” progress last month on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He said that for the first two weeks, he was instructed to “do nothing.” However, he has slowly started with minimal movement.

Thomas had last competed at the Procore Championship and has since been away from the greens.

Justin Thomas to miss “some events” in 2026 season

The PGA Tour’s new season will start in a few weeks. However, Justin Thomas is likely to miss a few tournaments at the beginning of the season.

On Nov. 15, he shared a post on his Instagram account, in which he opened up about his surgery. He said he had a successful “microdiscectomy” and is looking forward to recovering. In the caption, Thomas also answered the intriguing questions of fans about his potential return to the greens. He wrote:

“Before you ask, I’m not putting any tournament on the calendar or specific time for returning. While I will miss some events in the beginning of 2026, I want to be very smart and patient in letting my disc fully heal so it isn’t an issue again. I’m very lucky that the game of golf allows us to play at a high level for a long time, and that’s what I plan on doing – this procedure will allow me to do that injury free in the future. Can’t wait to see y’all back out there.”

Justin Thomas started the 2025 season at The Sentry with a T-26 finish. He then played at the American Express and was the runner-up. This season, he was the runner-up at the Valspar Championship and settled in the T-2 position at the Truist Championship. He had won the RBC Heritage. It will be intriguing to see when Thomas will return to play in 2026.
