LA Chargers offensive tackle Joe Alt suffered an ankle injury during the first half of Sunday’s Week 9 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. He was carted off the field.
The “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast shared a video of Alt getting carted off on X.
“Up & Adams” show host Kay Adams retweeted the video and reacted to the injury.

Alt missed three games earlier due to a high-ankle sprain, which he sustained in the first half against the New York Giants in Week 4. His right leg buckled after being struck in a block by Kayvon Thibodeaux, which forced him to limp off and carted to the locker room.
Alt’s setback on Sunday is another major blow to the Chargers offensive line already hit hard by injuries. Right tackle Bobby Hart exited earlier with an injury, forcing Trey Pipkins back into action despite his health concerns. Austin Deculus, who joined the team via trade in August, stepped in as Alt’s replacement.
With both starting tackles sidelined, Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh may be forced to make urgent roster moves ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.
The team listed Alt as questionable to return. His absence is huge as LA is battling to stay competitive in the AFC standings.
Jim Harbaugh praised Joe Alt after his return to practice
Jim Harbaugh praised Joe Alt’s influence on and off the field after the tackle returned to practice.
“Presence in the training environment, presence in the meeting room… especially in the game,” Harbaugh told reporters on Wednesday. “Even my kids go, ‘Boy, dad, Joe Alt really made a big difference.’ It’s that obvious how good of a player he is. It was great to have him back.”
Alt entered this season coming off a promising rookie year and was a positional upgrade to left tackle. His pass-blocking grade sits at an impressive 84.7, according to Pro Football Focus. Alt is fifth among tackles with an overall grade of 81.0.
In Week 1 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, he allowed zero pressures on 41 pass-blocking snaps and recorded a PFF pass-blocking grade of 91.4. It was one of the strongest single-game performances of his career. Alt’s run-block grade is 72.6, good for 20th among tackles. However, he has been hindered by constant injuries.
