Kevin Stefanski makes feelings clear on Shedeur Sanders’ subpar performance vs. 49ers

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a mediocre performance in their Week 13 blowout loss against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Sanders, making his second NFL start of his career, didn’t face any turnover issues as he had a 64% pass completion rate for 149 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.

However, the rookie quarterback was sacked thrice, losing 34 yards. While the former Colorado star didn’t have his best game, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski liked some of the things he saw from the fifth-round pick.

“I think Shedeur had some really good moments in that football game,” Stefanski said. “There are things that he wants back that we’re coaching up right now that he can improve upon.

“But bottom line is we have to continue to put our players in position to succeed, for the young quarterback who will only get better with more turns at this thing in these games as you see more coverages, as you see more defenses and as you prepare versus different defenses. So, just looking forward to that constant improvement with Shedeur and for all of our young players.”

Following the game, Stefanski was asked he was sticking with Sanders for their Week 14 clash against the Tennessee Titans. The Browns coach responded with a resounding “yes.”

Shedeur Sanders calls out “rude” question about Browns coach Kevin Stefanski

The Browns were dominated by San Francisco on Sunday with Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski facing criticism for some of his decisions in the game. When asked about his coach’s decisions after the game, Shedeur Sanders defended Stefanski by labelling the question “rude.”

“Did you like Kevin having the aggressiveness there, even backed up in your own territory?” the reporter asked.

Sanders responded:

“I mean, first, that’s a rude question to ask, if I think it was a great call by my coach.”

The former Colorado star elaborated on what he thought about the calls after the reporter rephrased it.

“I like being out there playing,” Sanders said. “So whatever that comes with, it comes with. We’re not gonna be here and ever point fingers at no coach or do anything like that. That’s extremely disrespectful and that’s not even in my place.”

Sanders would be hoping to put the game behind him as he gears up for his third start of the season against the Titans on Sunday.
