Lexi Thompson and other women golfers gear up for the upcoming LPGA Tour season, which kicks off in a few days. As Thompson was training for the new season, she recently ran into a popular NFL figure.
The 2026 LPGA Tour will be underway on January 29 with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. Before that, Thompson was busy practicing her swing when she came across NFL star Saquon Barkley. The LPGA Tour pro shared a picture with the $30 million-worth (according to Celebrity Net Worth) NFL running back on her Instagram story.
Thompson’s Instagram story showed the duo standing on Panther National, with the golfer wearing a dark blue Puma tee paired with a white skirt. Posing with the Philadelphia Eagles player, Lexi Thompson wrote in the caption:
“From Slime Cup shoot to @panthernational ran into @saquon on the range today”

Lexi Thompson is preparing for the 2026 LPGA season, and she was also seen teeing off at the SoFi Center as WTGL was announced a few days back. However, it is worth mentioning that the former Kraft Nabisco Championship winner would not be teeing up at the season-opening HGV Tournament of Champions.
Apart from the $2,100,000 event in Lake Nona, the 11-time LPGA Tour winner is expected to compete in a few events this year.
Why Lexi Thompson would not play in all events on the 2026 LPGA Tour season
Lexi Thompson declared her semi-retirement back in May 2024. The veteran women professional golfer said in a press release:
“I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my life. Time with family, friends, and my trusted companion Leo…”
Since then, Thompson has reduced the number of events she would play in. Last season, the one-time major champion competed in a handful of events. For the unversed, the 30-year-old golfer got engaged to her partner on January 1, 2025. After that, in an old video shared by the LPGA Tour, she confirmed that she would get married in March 2026.
As a result, Lexi Thompson would not be able to play in all the events on the LPGA Tour’s 2026 roster. In her statement, she said:
“Next season? Well, I’m getting married in March. So that I am looking forward to the most…”
Thompson recently had her Bachelorette party at The Moxies. The golfer from the United States also celebrated the conclusion of her bachelor days, celebrating in Fort Lauderdale. Thompson shared photos and videos from both celebrations on Instagram.
