LIV Golf Adelaide meets the major checklist as per the league. The Saudi league players are gearing up to play this week in the second event of the season.
The tournament is scheduled to start on Thursday. Ahead of that, LIV Golf shared a post on its X (formerly Twitter) account, which caught people’s attention.
They shared four snaps. The first one included a picture of a note on a tree that read, “Major championship applications are one now.” It was followed by another notice with the major checklist written on it.
Here are the checklist points:
- Hard to win
- Pressure
- Great course
- Great field
- Great champions
- No title defenses in its long history
They ticked all the points on the checklist and, in the caption, revealed that they have submitted an application for consideration for the major.
“Submitted for consideration ✍️ #LIVGolfAdelaide,” LIV Golf wrote.
LIV Golf Adelaide is one of the most popular events on the league. It features a stellar field that includes Cam Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and many others. This week’s event will take place from Feb. 12 to 15.
Scott O’Neil opens up about LIV Golf Adelaide event

LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil opened up about the Adelaide event. He attended a pre-tournament press conference held on Wednesday. He said (via ASAP Sports):
“This is an Aussie event, period, end of sentence. It is fun. It is lively. It’s a celebration of sport. It’s a celebration of culture and music and fashion and everything that’s right about being right here in southern Australia. It’s been absolutely wonderful.”
O’Neil also spoke about the venue for the event and talked about next year’s event, which will take place at Kooyonga Golf Club. The event has so far been held at The Grange Golf Club but will move to a different venue in 2027.
“We’ve been handled with class and dignity and hard work and true meaning of partnership, so thank you to the Grange for a wonderful experience here,” he said. “You’ve set the tone and you made it happen, and we’ll be forever grateful. We’re very excited about next year at Kooyonga, and even more excited in 2028 and beyond as we go to North Adelaide.”
Notably, Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from the LIV Golf Adelaide ahead of the start. He was replaced by Wade Ormsby for this week’s event.
Moreover, this week’s event marks Anthony Kim’s debut as a member of the LIV Golf team. He joined Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC. Notably, Patrick Reed, who was part of the team, exited the league ahead of the start of the season. Kim has now filled the vacant spot.
