LIV golfer shocked to learn he still has a DP World Tour card and plans to take full advantage

One LIV golfer did not realize that he could play on the DP World Tour this season.

In fairness, the introduction of LIV Golf in 2022 has made the sport far more complicated.

There is a general lack of understanding about the relationship between the three main tours (PGA, LIV, and DP World).

Indeed, Brooks Koepka’s recent return to the PGA Tour has only muddied the waters.

It is no surprise that even the players are unsure of the rules, as one LIV golfer admitted recently.

What’s the biggest reason you don’t watch LIV Golf?

Cleeks GC player did not know about DP World Tour eligibility

Cleeks GC team member Adrian Meronk had no idea that he could participate in DP World Tour events this season.

The 32-year-old, a four-time winner on the tour, assumed that his membership had expired since joining LIV in 2024.

“To be honest, I wasn’t aware that I was still eligible to be a member,” Meronk told bunkered. “I thought my membership was done last year, so it was a nice surprise.”

Meronk will make use of his membership at the Dubai Desert Classic this week, alongside several other LIV golfers.

He could also play several events in the autumn, when the 2026 LIV season has concluded.

What should LIV Golf change for you to give them full world ranking points?

Do you think it’s now time their events were recognised by the OWGR?

Adrian Meronk comments on LIV Golf’s push for world ranking points

Adrian Meronk also spoke about another controversial LIV Golf subject: world ranking points.

LIV are still awaiting a decision from the Official World Golf Ranking on their application.

Meronk explained: “It would be amazing [to earn OWGR points]. You want to be rewarded for your good play and get the chance to qualify for the majors.

“Obviously, I lost two years of world ranking [points]. I guess it is going to be hard to make it right, but I know they are working on something.

“We’ll see what happens. It would be nice to work with [OWGR] for sure.”
