Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau are widely considered the two best drivers of a golf ball in modern professional golf.
Justin Thomas and Adam Scott have even described McIlroy as the greatest driver of all time because he has been so good for so long.
Meanwhile, DeChambeau probably lacks some accuracy, but his distance is completely off the charts.
However, Ludvig Aberg has named another player as the best driver in the world, even ahead of those two.
Ludvig Aberg says Scottie Scheffler is the best driver in the world
Ludvig Aberg recently discussed Scottie Scheffler’s golf game in the latest episode of On The Bag with Dan Rapaport.
He first explained how Scheffler’s face control is the most impressive aspect of his swing, which sets him apart from other players.
“I think you can always look at the way he moves and how unconventional it might look, but if you look at the way he actually swings, it’s ridiculously good,” Aberg told Rapaport.
“The biggest thing that stands out when I look at his swing is the face control. Obviously, he moves laterally a lot more than most guys, but his face control is next level. That stands out to me.”

How many majors do you think Scottie Scheffler will win during his career?
The world number one already has four majors under his belt
The Swede also showed admiration for the consistency of Scheffler’s game, which allows him to shoot six-under-par without any miraculous shots.
“I think the simplicity of the way he plays,” Aberg continued. “He understands when to hit shots and how to hit them. He’s really good at the boring stuff, hitting the same shot over and over.
“And it gets to the point where, ‘You know what, I need to hit the 6-iron up to the moon to stop it, and I’ll do it.’ It doesn’t always look mega spectacular.
“And then he gets hot with the putter, rolls a few in, and it’s five- or six-under. That’s the part that I’m really impressed by.”
Finally, Aberg shared an interesting take that Scheffler is clearly the “best driver in the world,” when that is not considered the strongest part of his game.
“We all know he’s got more speed in the tank. He plays a 178-80 mph ball speed with a little cut, and he’s fine with it. Obviously, he’s the best driver in the world,” Aberg claimed.
Most people would agree that Scheffler’s iron play draws no comparison, but not so many would agree that he drives the ball better than McIlroy or DeChambeau.
Ludvig Aberg admires Scottie Scheffler’s personality
Aberg has previously expressed how much he also respects Scheffler’s personality in light of all his achievements
Some professional athletes tend to change when they enjoy success, but the American has stayed true to himself and his family over the past few years.
Scheffler will never be the most entertaining character in golf, but he still deserves credit for being a genuinely good person on and off the course.
“Obviously, his golf speaks for itself,” Aberg said. “We’ve all seen it. We’ve all watched him win multiple tournaments over and over again, and it seems like he’s doing it with such ease now.
How many shots would Scottie Scheffler beat Tiger Woods by in an 18-hole stroke play match?
“I feel like he’s really figured out how to find the extra gear when he needs to. All those things are really impressive. I haven’t known him that long, maybe two years, and his rise has been quite substantial.
“He’s always been the same person ever since. I think that’s more impressive because he’s got a lot of reasons to change the way he views things.
“From the outside looking in, it doesn’t seem that way. It seems like he’s very grounded. He cares about the things he cares about and nothing else.
“That’s more impressive than winning 14 events in two years. Staying true to yourself is a big challenge, and it seems like he’s doing a really good job of that.”
