Lydia Ko praises Nasa Hataoka’

Lydia Ko sent a sweet message to Nasa Hataoka on winning the 2025 Toto Japan Classic. The LPGA Tour event, which was scheduled to end on Sunday, Nov. 9, had its final round suspended due to inclement weather as the golf course became unplayable.

The third-round leaders, Yuwa Araki and Hataoka, then competed in a playoff to determine the winner. Nasa Hataoka finally clinched the title on the first playoff hole.

Lydia Ko reshared an LPGA Tour post about Hataoka’s win on her Instagram Story and praised the Japanese golfer in the caption.

“Love waking up to see that Nasa Hataoka had won,” Ko wrote.

It was Hataoka’s seventh win on the LPGA Tour and also her first one in three years. Before this, she won in 2022 at the Dio Implant LA Open.

She opened up about breaking her winless drought in the post-round press conference on Sunday. Hataoka said (via ASAP Sports):

“So it’s been three years and a half as you said so it was kind of long drought for me so I had a struggle, but my team and my sponsors, like fans, they’re supporting me quite a lot. That’s why I could win this tournament this week.”

Nasa Hataoka started her campaign at the Toto Japan Classic 2025 with an opening round of 65 and then carded a second round of 68. She carded another round of 68 to settle in 15-under.

Meanwhile, Lydia Ko is having a good time away from the greens these days. She last played in the Maybank Championship, held in Malaysia.
