The Packers hired Jeff Hafley as the defensive coordinator in 2024. In his debut campaign, they finished as the fifth-best team in the league in terms of total defense, averaging 314.5 yards and allowing 39 touchdowns.
This season, the Packers defense saw a dip in performance, finishing No.12 while averaging 311.8 yards and allowing 39 touchdowns. The Packers qualified for the playoffs in both years, but their hopes of a Super Bowl appearance ended in the wild-card round.
Micah Parsons became a part of Hafley’s defense after being traded by the Cowboys and agreeing to a four-year deal worth $188 million. In his debut campaign with the Packers, the linebacker tallied 41 total tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross shares his thoughts on Jeff Hafley’s hiring
After announcing Jeff Hafley as the new coach, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross released a statement on this new direction for the franchise.
He said that he believes in the ex-Packers DC’s abilities to be successful and is excited to watch his future unfold in a new place.
“I believe great things are ahead for the Miami Dolphins with Jeff Hafley leading the way,” Ross said. “Jeff is an accomplished coach with a proven track record as a leader and motivator.
“I’m excited to see where Jeff leads us, alongside Jon-Eric Sullivan and our entire football operation, as we speak to return the Dolphins to sustained success.”
The Dolphins also hired Jon-Eric Sullivan as the new GM of the franchise. He spent the last four years as the VP of Player Personnel with the Packers.
Mike McDaniel’s four-season stint with the team resulted in two playoff appearances. He finished with a 35-33 overall record, including the disappointing 2025 campaign, where they finished third in the AFC East with a 7-10 record.
