Josh Allen discussed becoming a father at a press conference on Wednesday. The Buffalo Bills quarterback opened up about his upcoming role as a dad one month after announcing his wife, Hailee Steinfeld, is pregnant.

Allen and Steinfeld, who is an actress, got married in May 2025 after the couple went public with their relationship in spring 2023.

The quarterback spoke with reporters Wednesday about his offseason plans. Allen was asked how he’ll balance recovery and preparation with becoming a first-time father.

“You know, something that I, I will take with great pride, and we’re gonna have to figure things out on the go, just like anything else. But this is, this is the most important thing I’ll ever be in my life is being a dad. And I know, I love being a, a football player and I love being a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, but I’m looking forward to this one.”

Allen also pointed out that planning for a newborn has its limitations.

“I’ve known just from, well in advance, I’ve got a lot of, I’ve got siblings that have kids. I’ve got a lot of friends that have kids. And, I don’t know if you can plan too far in advance. So I’m, I’m very much looking forward to that with my wife of becoming a dad,” Allen said.

Steinfeld revealed the pregnancy through her newsletter in December. She included a video of her baby bump as the final entry in a list of 29 favorite moments from 2025.

Family now plays a big part in Josh Allen’s life. Even before he was a soon-to-be dad, he told ESPN in the fall his perspective shifted after spending the offseason with family. The quarterback said his personal life now carries equal weight to his professional ambitions.

“Obviously, I love my job. I think it’s extremely important. I do everything that I can to win games and help our team win, but the family aspect in being a good person and all that other stuff, I think that’s, if not just as important, if not more, than playing our game and what we do,” Allen said, according to ESPN.

Allen proposed to Steinfeld in November 2024 during the Bills’ bye week. The couple’s first child is expected to arrive in the coming months.
