Patrick Mahomes addresses Maxwell Hairston’s claim that Xavier Worthy’s tendencies gave away Chiefs’ plays

Patrick Mahomes addresses Maxwell Hairston’s claim that Xavier Worthy’s tendencies gave away Chiefs’ plays

On Wednesday, Patrick Mahomes addressed the claims made by Buffalo Bills rookie Maxwell Hairston following the Chiefs’ 28-21 loss in Week 9. In the post-game press conference, the rookie cornerback, who had one interception in that game, highlighted how Chiefs WR Xaiver Worthy tends to give away plays on the field.

“Finding a difference in his posture and his effort for real when he knows he’s not getting it, when it’s a run,” Hairston said. “So just applying what I saw in the film room and taking it out to the field. There are tells that everybody gives. It’s just about finding out.”

Patrick Mahomes looked baffled with the observation made by Maxwell Hairston during Wednesday’s press conference, but did not completely neglect the Bills rookie.

“I didn’t necessarily see it. I mean, obviously if he said it, he saw something,” Mahomes said. “But we’ll be better at looking at things like that. I appreciate the info so that we can be better at that as the season gones on.”

Xavier Worthy also responded to Hairston’s claims, stating that it was an incorrect observation.

“I don’t react to it,” Worthy said as per The Kansas City Star. “If you couldn’t point out the indicator, then you’ve really seen no indicator. It just happens. It’s part of the game. We’re going to bounce back. I’ll be all right. You put it in the back burner- you don’t worry about it.”

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are currently placed third in the AFC West with a 5-4 record. After a bye week, they will be taking on the division leaders, the Denver Broncos, on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
