Scottie Scheffler has had an unbelievable run these last few years but current PGA Tour player Kevin Chappell has made a comparison with Tiger Woods that few might be thinking of.
Scheffler had another superb season in 2025, winning more majors and adding yet more PGA Tour wins to his name.
He broke records again, such as at the Byron Nelson, while his ball-striking and consistency was once again off the scale.

Scheffler has been world number one for over 160 weeks now and while still some way off Tiger Woods, he is not going anywhere anytime soon.
However, according to PGA Tour winning golfer Kevin Chappell, Scheffler’s peak might well have already been witnessed.

Why Scottie Scheffler may have already had his peak years in golf
We looked back on 2024 and thought Scottie Scheffler couldn’t get much better but he did just that in 2025.
Still, to go again in 2026 and better what he’s done the last two years will take some doing for Scottie and according to Kevin Chappell, we might not quite see the same Scheffler again.
Speaking on the Subpar podcast, Chappell was asked about Scheffler’s improved putting and what that might mean for those trying to beat him.
And for Chappell, right now, it means that there aren’t too many out there who can beat the world number one albeit, he believes we might have seen Scheffler’s peak.
“They’re not. With the numbers he has now. Scottie has a lot of moving pieces and as you know, as you get older you lose control of your body a little bit and you know, you had Padraig on and he said about how everyone’s careers are defined by like a 21 month peak,” Chappell said.
Who is the better player: Rory McIlroy or Scottie Scheffler
“You know, maybe we’ve seen Scottie’s peak. That doesn’t mean he’s not going to play great golf, it just might be a step below of where his peak was.
“That’s what Tiger had. Stretches of 20 months that were incredible but the rest of it was still incredible but also slightly worse. And so when you get a generational talent that does that, even he’s going to have a period of time where the golf is worse than it was. But it’s still going to be great, he might win four or five times a year and that’s just because of who he is.”

Scottie Scheffler can dominate in 2026 once again
There is so much talent on the PGA Tour that it sounds a bit bold to suggest Scheffler will simply dominate again but he is that good, that he might just do it once more.
Yes, Rory McIlroy is playing brilliant golf and he might also take some stopping.
But Scheffler’s attitude, calmness, and seemingly never-ending drive to keep improving and winning means he is very much like a prime Tiger Woods.
| Strokes Gained (SG) | Scottie Scheffler 2025 |
| SG off the tee | 2nd (0.748) |
| SG approach | 1st (1.291) |
| SG around the green | 17th (0.322) |
| SG putting | 21st (0.382) |
| SG overall | 1st (2.743) |
If Scheffler does add more majors in 2026 and wins five or more events once again, we can start the conversation around how truly great the Texas native is.
If not, as Chappell says, he will still be in contention and given he’s nowhere near being 30 yet, we could be seeing Scottie for some time yet.
