Phil Mickelson drops a 3-word reaction to California allegedly spending more on healthcare of illegals than on police

Phil Mickelson has once again made headlines with his outspoken political views, this time reacting sharply to a report about California’s spending priorities. The six-time major champion took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, November 7, to share his frustration over a claim that the state plans to spend far more on healthcare for undocumented immigrants than on law enforcement.

As reported by the Daily Caller, California plans to spend about $10 billion on healthcare for illegal immigrants in the 2025–2026 budget, which is nearly 28 times more than the $348 million set aside for law enforcement. The state’s Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) also said this amount is around 35% higher than the $7.4 billion Governor Gavin Newsom had proposed in January.

Resharing the report on X, Mickelson wrote just three words:

“This is infuriating”

Phil Mickelson, who resides in California, has frequently criticized the state’s Democratic leadership and Governor Newsom’s fiscal and energy policies. Earlier this week, he took aim at Newsom after a video of the governor resurfaced, in which Newsom warned against threats to democracy, saying,

“Donald Trump does not believe in fair and free elections. Period. Full stop.”

Mickelson joked in reply, writing:

“Out of all delirious things he says, why does “period. Full stop” bother me more than all of it ?”

The 55-year-old golfer has repeatedly voiced his support for President Donald Trump and often uses his social media platform to comment on U.S. politics. Just weeks ago, he accused Newsom of putting U.S. national security at risk through energy policies that allegedly rely on Russian and Chinese tankers, calling the governor’s approach a “national threat.” Mickelson isn’t just making headlines for politics; he’s also facing a separate legal issue.

Phil Mickelson faces another legal matter

Phil Mickelson announced on X on Friday that he has hired prominent defamation lawyer Tom Clare in response to a recent report from Hunterbrook. The story claims Mickelson received insider information on Houston-based oil startup Sable Offshore and shared it in a private chat.

The LIV golfer made it clear he may take action against anyone who circulated the report.

“Being in the public eye makes me a frequent target for sensationalized media coverage. I get that it comes with the territory but there are legal limits on false reports. And while I may have been willing to “let it go” in the past, I’m no longer going to sit quietly and take it when those lines are crossed.,” he wrote.

I know from experience that being in the public eye makes me a frequent target for sensationalized media coverage. I get that it comes with the territory but there are legal limits on false reports. And while I may have been willing to “let it go” in the past, I’m no longer

Phil Mickelson’s post came just hours after Pablo Torre Finds Out released an episode about the story with co-author Sam Koppelman. He has since been denying the claims on social media.
