Reilly Opelka argues with Mohamed Lahyani, squanders three match points

Reilly Opelka and Francisco Comesana played a wild match at the Cincinnati Masters! The Argentine denied three match points on serve in the tenth game of the decider and prevailed 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 after three hours and eight minute

The match saw everything, including an argument between Opelka and the chair umpire, Mohamed Lahyani, over a medical timeout. Before that, Comesana struggled physically in the second set and left the court running in the eighth game, likely to throw up.

The Argentine recovered and came from 4-1 down in the final set en route to a notable victory and a place in the last 16. Reilly, on the other hand, left the court devastated after squandering such a massive lead and three match points.

The American fired 27 aces and had the upper hand behind the first serve. However, he struggled behind the second and lost serve four times from 13 chances presented to his rival.

Francisco saved three of five break points, including those crucial three in the tenth game of the final set. Opelka denied two set points in the tenth game of the opener before securing a break at love a few minutes later.

Comesana pulled it back in the 12th game and introduced a tie break. The home player clinched all six points on serve and grabbed a single mini-break in the fifth point for 7-4.

The Argentine struggled physically in the second set and still served well. He missed break points in the third game before providing a break at 3-3 to move in front. Francisco left the court in the next game after felling dizzy.

He continued and delivered two holds at 15 to wrap up the set 6-4 and force a decider. Reilly made a fresh start and clinched a break in the fourth game. He notched three fine holds and forged a 4-1 advantage.

However, Comesana pulled the break back in game seven and returned to the positive side. The Argentine served to stay in the match at 4-5 and denied a match point before they left the court for 45 minutes due to rain delay.

Opelka played well ince they continued and generated two more match points. His rival denied them and held for 5-5 and more drama. Francisco gained a boost and grabbed a break in game 11 to build a crucial advantage.

The American required a medical timeout, explaining he felt dizzy and needed sugar. Lahyani reminded him they had a 45-minute break and called the supervisor to make a decision.

Reilly received help in the end, which did not make his rival happy. However, Comesana served out for the win at 6-5, sealing the deal and prevailing in a thriller for a place in the last 16.
