Eight-time Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick is not going to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on his first attempt, as the former New England Patriots coach failed to get 40 out of 50 votes needed for induction.

The unveiling of the Class of 2026 at NFL Honors on Feb. 5 in San Francisco and the veteran North Carolina Tar Heels coach was informed about his omission on Friday.

While his snubbing has received widespread criticism from analysts and players, right-wing analyst Nick Adams alleged that Belichick was snubbed because he supported President Donald Trump. Adams wrote on X:

“First Tim Tebow. Now Bill Belichick? The NFL is rigged against pro-God and pro-Trump alpha males.”

Donald Trump and Belichick has long-stadning relationship that began during the legendary coach’s tenure in New England. Belichick showed his support for Trump by writing a letter of support before the 2016 election. However, Belichick clarified that it wasn’t a political move but a personal message to Trump on his campaign.

Following the backlash, Belichick declined the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2021 and received criticism from Trump for his decision. However, Trump was a guest on Belichick’s “Let’s Go!” podcast in November 2024.

Bill Belichick was hired by New England in 2000 and led the franchise to six Super Bowl wins, the most by a coach in NFL history. The former Patriots coach was reportedly left “puzzled” by the decision and asked an associate:

“Six Super Bowls isn’t enough?”

The snubbing has stunned Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, who argued Belichick is the “Best NFL coach.” Sanders voiced his displeasure on X:

“The Disrespect to Coach Belichick is straight out IGNORANT! He’s arguably the BEST NFL COACH TO EVER COACH THE GAME! How quickly we forget the impact Coach Belichick made on all of us! @nfl WOW! #CoachPrime.”
