Roddick hits out at Polish media over Iga Swiatek coverage: You’re a moron

As one of the most important figures on the tennis scene, Iga Swiatek often attracts the attention of the media. No matter how dominant you are and how much you win, if you experience a certain crisis in your professional career, criticism will immediately follow from both analysts and experts, as well as from the media. Swiatek has been facing various criticisms for years, however, sometimes they really go beyond all measure.

They often concern her private appearance as well.

Namely, at the recent press conference, the 24-year-old received a question about her hair, and in addition, whether she needs a rest after her defeat by Amanda Anisimova.

That there are positive things in the world of tennis is best demonstrated by Andy Roddick, the legendary tennis player who did not hesitate to defend the Polish tennis player

As someone who was also a professional player, he is aware of how much criticism can have a negative effect on an athlete, especially when it concerns something outside the tennis courts.

During his podcast Served, Roddick had some harsh words for a Polish journalist.

“If you’re a Polish journalist and you’re making Iga’s life really difficult and not throwing a parade every time she talks to you, you’re a moron.”– he said.

Igo Swiatek’s reaction

The Polish tennis player has already emphasized several times that she needs support, but it seems that some are still not satisfied with her performances, and even with things that have nothing to do with her professional career.

The popular Iga Swiatek openly said that it is not easy to deal with the treatment she is given by Polish journalists, as she suffers criticism and various pressures day after day.

The 24-year-old is, however, happy to have the best people around her, and believes that there is still a lot of room for improvement and even better results in the future.

Iga is aware that sometimes she does not excel on the tennis courts, but she is equally aware that a tennis player’s career is filled with ups and downs.

Ultimately, Swiatek stresses that journalists should be more understanding and let her do what she does best: playing tennis.
