Ex-NFL safety Ryan Clark believes that Lamar Jackson will not part ways with the Baltimore Ravens. On Friday’s episode of ESPN’s “First Take,” he and Cam Newton were dicussing about the two-time NFL MVP’s future with the franchise.
The Ravens fired John Harbaugh after 18 years, following an underwhelming 8-9 2025 campaign. On Tuesday, he joined the Giants as Brian Daboll’s replacement. Jackson’s performance also took a hit as he missed four games due to injuries. Cam Newton said that if things did not change for the franchise, then the quarterback might be traded away by the team.
“If certain things do not change, yes (Jackson will be gone),” Newton said.
Ryan Clark immediately shut down Newton’s take.

“Here’s why that’s crazy,” Clark said. “Lamar Jackson has been Lamar Jackson no matter who coaches. The reason that John Harbaugh is gone is because everyone realizes Jackson’s greatness, his skills, his talent, even his ability to lead and galvanize players. …
“Lamar Jackson ain’t going nowhere. This team doesn’t play well in the next two years, they’ll get another head coach as long as Lamar Jackson is healthy and he can be himself. … The most important hire to me is, it’s not head coach then quarterback, it’s head coach, then offensive coordiantor. Who is going to lead Lamar Jackson?”
The Ravens drafted Jackson with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. In eight seasons, he has helped the team to six playoff appearances while recording 22,608 yards and 187 TDs passing, along with 6,522 yards and 35 TDs rushing.
This season, Jackson played in only 13 games while recording 2,549 yards and 21 TDs passing. On Thursday, the Ravens announced Jesse Minter as the team’s new coach and John Harbaugh’s replacement.
Lamar Jackson and co. reportedly interested in Kliff Kingsbury as new Ravens OC
The Ravens had Todd Monken as the offensive coordinator for the past three seasons. However, under him, the team ranked No.16 in terms of total offense this season, averaging 332.2 yards and 48 touchdowns.
Over the past few days, Moken has been linked to other coaching jobs, raising questions about his future with the team. Amid these reports, The Athletic’s Diana Russini stated that Jackson and his team are interested in having Kliff Kingsbury as the new offensive coordinator.
“I know for a fact that Lamar Jackson and those receivers would like Kliff Kingsbury to run t heir offense. They’ve shown support. They’ve been vocal about it. They’ve been part of some of these interviews,” Russini said as per NFL insider Dov Kleiman.
Kingsbury spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Washington Commanders. After a disappointing 5-12 campaign this season, both parties decided to mutually part ways.
On the other hand, Todd Monken completed his second interview with the Cleveland Browns. Apart from this, he is also a top candidate to join John Harbaugh as the new offensive coordinator of the New York Giants.
