Scottie Scheffler is one of the most written about golfers in the world. Considered to be a golfer who could leave an impact on the sport as big as Tiger Woods, there are often plenty of expectations for Scheffler. Now, it’s only human for the current World No. 1 to not be able to live up to them every time.
The 2026 season has been one such instance where Scheffler hasn’t met the expectations of fans and golf media. While he began his year with a win at The American Express, Scheffler has since struggled on the Tour and hasn’t won an event.
This inability to win in his last 4 events has drawn the attention of popular golf insider Dan Rapaport. On his popular show, Dan on Golf, the golf insider graded Scheffler’s start to the 2026 season. Rapaport gave Scottie Scheffler a grade, which he believes is ‘harsh.’
Dan Rapaport said:
“We’re going to start with Scottie Scheffler. I’m giving him a B+. It might be harsh, it might sound harsh, but this is the burden of expectation. When you’re the best player in the world, this is what we expect.”
He added:
“So his five results so far: win, T3, T4, but the last two weeks have been tied for 12th and tied for 24th. That brings it down from an A- to a B+. That’s the reality of being on the best run since Tiger Woods. If you have a couple of meh weeks in a row, you go down to a B+. If someone who was a rookie had those results, you’d say incredible. We’re ranking these guys based on what we expect from them.”
While Scottie Scheffler hasn’t won an event since The American Express, he has managed to record impressive finishes despite beginning a couple of tournaments badly. For example, Scheffler finished T3 at the WM Phoenix Open and T4 at The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Scottie Scheffler is not the only golfer to receive a harsh rating from Dan Rapaport
If you thought Scottie Scheffler was the only golfer to have received a harsh rating from Dan Rapaport, then you were mistaken. Apart from Scheffler, another golfer who’s received a ‘harsh’ rating is Career Grand Slam Winner and World No. 2, Rory McIlroy.
During the same episode of Dan on Golf as above, Rapaport gave McIlroy a “solid B.” In the video, he also revealed the reason McIlroy received a ‘B’ and mentioned his back injury as one of the reasons. He said:
“Rory McIlroy, I’m giving a B. Also, a little bit harsh. His results so far: T14, T3, T33, T14, T2 and a withdrawal. The game seems to be there, but there have been a couple of disappointing finishes, and the back injury is a bit of a concern. So I’m giving Rory a solid B.
The one golfer who received an A from Dan Rapaport is Jon Rahm. According to the golf insider, Rahm’s finishes in recent LIV events make him worthy of the grade given to him. However, Rapaport also revealed that the only factor that kept Rahm from A+ was his disappointing loss to Anthony Kim at LIV Adelaide.
