Scottie Scheffler says how he honestly feels about his golf game after final round 65 at Riviera

Scottie Scheffler fought back incredibly hard after his opening round 74 at the Genesis Invitational.

Scheffler posted a three-under-par 68 on Friday to make the cut on the number at the Genesis, and then shot rounds of 66 and 65 over the weekend.

Now the world number one has a genuine chance to finish inside the top-10 at Riviera. That would be 19 consecutive top-10s on the PGA Tour for the 29-year-old – a record that Tiger Woods couldn’t even get close to.

Do you think Scottie Scheffler will beat Tiger Woods’ consecutive cuts record?

He’s not even halfway there right now…

Winning doesn't get old for Scottie Scheffler. Neither does the time it requires to be good

Scheffler found it tough going at Riviera during the first two rounds but he was much more like his old self during his third and fourth rounds.

The man from Dallas, Texas, only had his ‘C’ game in Pacific Palisades this week, and that is a frightening thought for his rivals.

But how does Scheffler genuinely feel about his golf game right now?

Scottie Scheffler says how he feels about his game after the Genesis

Scheffler played extremely solid golf on Sunday at Riviera.

He’ll be hoping to kick on now and ensure that he starts his next tournament in fine fettle, after his recent first round struggles.

Scheffler spoke to reporters after his round and replied when asked to describe what shape his game is currently in.

Yeah, I mean, I think after Thursday I did some pretty good stuff, yeah, Scheffler said.

I don’t really know how to elaborate on that. I think I was in dead last after Thursday, battled just to make the cut and think I had two solid dates over the weekend, yeah.

I mean, I think going out early yesterday, the greens were a lot fresher, got to see some putts going in.

When we went out on Thursday, the wind was blowing so hard and the greens were so bumpy and so fast, it was a complete crapshoot whether or not the ball was going to get in the hole.

In order to get the ball to go in the hole you had to hit it with a little bit of speed to negate some of the bumps, and if you hit a putt with speed, you had another three-, four-footer especially with how much pitch is on these greens.

So it was really challenging going out there starting the way we did on Thursday and then I start off the way I did, maybe press a little bit or whatever it may be. After that, I did a lot of solid stuff.

Scottie Scheffler needs to address first round woes

Next up for Scheffler will be the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in two weeks’ time.

Are you concerned about Scottie Scheffler right now?

He is really struggling with his first rounds right now…

The American’s game is perfectly suited to Bay Hill, and it’s no surprise that he has won there twice before.

It will be back to his home in Dallas for a week for Scottie now, though, and you can bet your life he will be working incredibly hard on his game.

Scheffler will not be happy one little bit with how he started the Genesis this week, and the same can be said for his first rounds in Phoenix and at Pebble Beach over the past three weeks.

The big concern for his rivals is that, once he gets his first round issues figured out, he will be unstoppable.
