The popular Lowry was extremely pleased with his third round at the Cognizant, as everything finally came together for him.
Do you think Scottie Scheffler will beat Tiger Woods’ consecutive cuts record?
He’s not even halfway there right now…
It’s little wonder why Lowry is playing so well this week – he is the master of Florida golf courses it seems.
In fact, the 38-year-old Irishman is 32 shots better off than anyone else on the PGA Tour when playing golf courses in Florida over the past five years.
After his round, he was asked about that record, and he responded with a brilliant joke about Scottie Scheffler.

Shane Lowry makes Scottie Scheffler comment when asked about Florida dominance
Lowry spoke to reporters after his superb third round of eight-under-par 63 at the Cognizant Classic on Saturday.
He was asked whether there is a reason why he has been so dominant when playing golf courses in Florida.
“Scottie doesn’t play that much around Florida maybe,“ Lowry joked.
“Yeah, I just like Florida golf. When I moved here at first, I hated Florida golf, the grain, Bermuda. Everything about it was tricky for me.
“Just from living down here and spending time down here, I’ve become better at it.“
Despite Lowry’s joke about Scheffler, there must be a reason why he is so suited to playing golf in Florida.
His exemplary short game probably has something to do with it, while his steep angle of attack when hitting his irons must help when gauging the ball out of deep lies in the Bermuda rough.
Shane Lowry is still yet to win in Florida despite scoring dominance
Lowry obviously loves playing on golf courses with Bermuda grass.
But as he ighlighted, it wasn’t always that way after he came over to Florida from Ireland.
Do you think Shane Lowry will win during the 2026 season?
Was the first event of 2026 a success or a failure for Shane Lowry?
Over time, Lowry improved as he became more familiar with the Sunshine State’s native grass.
However, despite his dominance in the scoring stats on Florida golf courses, he is still yet to win in the State throughout his career to date.
He’ll be desperate to change all of that on Sunday in Palm Beach Gardens at PGA National.
If Lowry plays anywhere like he did on Saturday, he will surely reign victorious at the Cognizant Classic this year.
