“Stop manifesting RGIII on my son”: Jayden Daniels’ mom Regina annoyed at fans after Commanders QB’s injury brings back brutal memories of past

Jayden Daniels hurt his right hamstring in the third quarter of his Washington Commanders’ 22-44 loss at the Dallas Cowboys. It has since drawn comparisons to Robert Griffin III’s plight in his 2012 debut, and at least one person has gotten tired of it fast.

The sophomore quarterback’s mother Regina Jackson wrote on her social media:

“I wish you would stop manifesting RGIII on my son. Words are powerful and that’s all that’s talked about 🙏🏽🙏🏽”

Before leaving the game, Daniels, who had already been forced to miss Weeks 3 and 4 because of a knee injury, had completed 12 of 22 attempts for 156 yards and a touchdown. He had also rushed eight times for 35 yards and another score.

He was eventually ruled out of the rest of the day, with backup Marcus Mariota filling in for him in the fourth quarter. Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters after the game that he would undergo an MRI tomorrow to assess the severity of the injury:

Dan Quinn said Jayden Daniels wanted to go back in. He will get an MRI Monday on his right hamstring.

The Commanders next visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 27. Kickoff is at 8:15 pm ET on ABC/ESPN.

Jayden Daniels’ injury not only one Commanders suffered against Cowboys

As it turned out, however, Jayden Daniels was not the only casualty for Landover on Sunday.

Starting defensive end Dorance Armstrong, the team’s pass-rushing leader at 5.5 sacks and 13 pressures, managed to play the first two or so minutes, but soon went down and was also seen hobbling on the field with a suspected knee injury. He had already been listed as questionable after missing practices with a hamstring injury of his own, and ultimately did not return to the game.

It adds to the injury woes that the Commanders have suffered at that position. Other starter Deatrich Wise Jr. tore his quad in Week 2, ruling him out for the rest of 2025. Backup Javontae Jean-Baptiste joined him two games later with a torn pectoral muscle.

Those three joined a litany of injured offensive playmakers. Wide receivers Terry McLaurin (quad), Deebo Samuel (heel), and Noah Brown (IR/groin) did not play on Sunday, while running back Austin Ekeler had torn his Achilles tendon in Week 2.
