Taylor Fritz denies US Open blunder was planned: I’m just an idiot

A lot of dust was raised about the performance of Taylor Fritz against Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the US Open. Facing the legendary Serb, Fritz lost in three sets.

However, while the match itself was expected to get the most attention, it was his upside-down Hugo Boss headband that seemed to get more attention.

Immediately after the match, pictures of Fritz with the tape began to circulate on the Internet, and the American tennis player was somewhat surprised that no one pointed out the mistake to him earlier.

However, some were not convinced of the sincerity of his words, like Sam Querrey, who believes it was a strategic move by Fritz’s team. The legendary tennis player is not the only one who shares this opinion, as there are others also convinced that this is a planned move.

“That had to be strategic. Everyone’s talking about the Hugo Boss headband. I’m convinced it was a strategic play. It wasn’t a mistake. I don’t think it was a mistake,” Querrey said.

It didn’t take long for the reaction of Taylor Fritz, who decided to respond to Querrey’s claims. The American tennis player immediately denied Sam’s words, emphasizing that it was indeed the result of his lack of focus.

“@samquerrey reading into it to much… I’m just an idiot”– Fritz wrote.

Taylor’s qualities and future

The 27-year-old tennis player showed at the US Open that he is a quality player who has the potential to do great things. When you have an opponent like Novak Djokovic opposite you, it is clear that it is difficult to be a dominant figure and achieve a big result.

Nevertheless, such situations will not spoil the focus of the American tennis player, who is ready for new challenges, and at the same time ready to show his best.

Although his headband seems to have attracted more attention than his performance, the American is not someone who likes to be the center of attention in such a way.
