It has certainly been a huge boost for the DP World Tour to have Patrick Reed playing regularly in the early stages of this season.
Patrick Reed is now the THIRD BEST golfer in the world, discuss…
Aside from Scottie and Rory, who’s better than Reed right now?
The American has now won the Dubai Desert Classic and the Qatar Masters. It is the first time in more than a decade that the 35-year-old has won twice in the same calendar year.
Reed also made it into a playoff in Bahrain last week for good measure.
Patrick Reed could be chasing history after his latest DP World Tour win
The former LIV Golf star can put his feet up for the remainder of the season and still almost certainly secure a full PGA Tour card for next year.
But perhaps he now has a golden opportunity to make a bit of history before he returns Stateside.
In fact, he has a chance to break a record still held by Seve Ballesteros.
The legendary Spaniard remains the only player to win six official events on the European Tour in the same season. That run came back in 1986.
Patrick Reed looks determined to make the strongest statement possible on his way back to the PGA Tour
Reed obviously has some way to go, but he is off to a phenomenal start with two victories under his belt already.
And when you consider how often Reed does like to play, he will almost certainly give himself enough chances to add to his tally over the coming months.
He appears to be absolutely determined to return to the PGA Tour in the best form possible. Reed looks poised to enjoy one of his best ever years in the major championships. He will certainly be a name to look out for when The Masters comes around.
Obviously, winning another five times on the DP World Tour is going to be a huge ask, particularly if he is planning to head back to the PGA Tour as soon as his suspension ends in August.
But he has been absolutely thriving since his most recent LIV start. So the record for the most wins in a season may not be beyond him at all.
