The prediction Tiger Woods got wrong about Max Homa after playing with him at The Masters

Max Homa is one of the most popular golfers in the world but when it comes to actually winning golf tournaments, it’s just not happened as often as we all thought.

Homa has a very credible six PGA Tour wins to his name and has come close to winning the Masters as well, having come third in 2024.

However, while Homa’s resume is one most golfers in the world would more than take, the reality of the situation is that he hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since 2023.

Homa won the Farmers in ’23, but his other five wins are split between 2022 and 2019 but since those successes, he’s had a miserable time really and 2024 and 2025 – barring that Masters third – have been poor.

Indeed, when we look back at what Tiger Woods said and predicted for Homa, it’s simply not happened.

Tiger Woods’ prediction for Max Homa that has just not come true

Max Homa is still only 34 and there is time for him to get his form back and get back to winning ways.

However, while he does have those six wins, he’s not quite done what Tiger Woods predicted after playing alongside him at the Masters last year.

After partnering with Homa at the Open in 2022 as well, Woods played with him around Augusta and after seeing Homa’s swing, predicted big things.

“He’s got all the talent in the world,” Woods said after playing with Homa.

“I got a chance to play with him at the Open Championship at St Andrews, and his ball flight, as solid as he hits it, it’s just a matter of time before he starts winning in bunches. I saw it up front; he doesn’t really mis-hit shots. That’s something you just have to do around this golf course.”

Of course, Homa won a few more times since that outing with Woods at St Andrews but since the comments at Augusta, Homa has done little.

With Homa in contention at the Bank of Utah Championship this week, there is a chance for him to finally get win number seven.

Max Homa’s PGA Tour career in numbers so far

Max Homa has had a PGA Tour career that most golfers in the world would die for.

His career is no failure at all and any criticism or critique is simply because he hasn’t hit the heights so many of us expected after he got win number one.

Nevertheless, he has had big success and if he was to retire now, he can look back and be proud.

A quick look at that $28m figure suggests Homa has had quite the career, and he has.

However, as Woods suggested, it perhaps should be even more and we are all looking forward to seeing Homa back to his best eventually.
