Max Homa is well-known for being a huge Formula One fan. He has expressed an interest in sports on numerous occasions, and even recently, he was present at an F1 event. On November 23, he posted pictures from the event on his Instagram story. That was not Max Homa’s first appearance at an F1-influenced event, as he also participated in the Netflix Cup in 2023. It was a golf-and-F1 crossover event in which F1 drivers and golfers were paired to compete in an exciting 8-hole match play. The eight holes had some unique “race-style” components, such as race carts.

Homa was paired with Alex Albon, and the two of them developed a strong bond. In an interview, the golfer even referred to Albon as the “nicest guy ever.”

Max Homa is undoubtedly one of the best golfers on the PGA Tour, which is why he was invited to compete in the Netflix Cup. Following the event, he gave an interview to the PGA Tour in which he highlighted how he was never a big F1 fan at first but was eventually drawn to the sport. He also disclosed that, while he was unable to attend sports regularly, his mother contacts him once a week to keep him updated.

According to the PGA Tour, the golfer stated:

“Doing something for the first time that it’s ever happened is a pretty cool opportunity. With the ‘Drive to Survive’ show, I was never into F1, but it sucked me in. Saturdays and Sundays, my mom calls and fills me in on what happened because we can rarely watch during the season. I met Carlos at the Ryder Cup, too.”

Homa later added:

“Something like this is unique; it sounded amazing and everyone involved is awesome, so I was intrigued to have the opportunity to do it.”

Max Homa was unable to reach the final of the Netflix Cup after he and his partner, Alex Albon, failed to defeat Pierre Gasly and Tony Finau.
