“This isn’t Colorado idiot”: NFL fans call out Skip Bayless for urging Kevin Stefanski to free Shedeur Sanders after Browns’ 26-8 loss to 49ers

Skip Bayless had a reaction to how Shedeur Sanders was being used by the Cleveland Browns in the Week 13 game against the San Francisco 49ers. The rookie quarterback got his second start of his NFL career at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday, which ended in a 26-8 loss.

Following the game, Bayless made a video urging the Cleveland Browns organisation to free Shedeur and let him play his game. The veteran analyst believes the strategy and play-call of the team is limiting the ability of the young quarterback, which he believes is outstanding.

“At some point, I guess it’s gonna have to come from the owner Jimmy Haslam,” Bayless said. “Kevin Stefanski is going to have to take the training wheels off Shedeur Sanders. At some point you need to like free him from the bassinet that they’ve locked him in.

“Yeah, he’s an NFL baby, but the kid’s got game. He’s got flair, he’s got swagger, he’s got charisma. You have to let Shedeur be Shedeur because that game was winnable. I know the final score was 26-8 San Francisco. But late in the first half, it was 8-7, Shedeur’s team.”

The opinion of Skip Bayless regarding Shedeur Sanders’ usage immediately drew a lot of criticism from NFL fans. A host of fans believe the analyst is deprived of reality. Here’s a look at some of the reactions online:

@RealSkipBayless So he can be sacked more, yeah let him go. This isn’t Colorado idiot, ITS THE NFL.

@RealSkipBayless Shut up.

@RealSkipBayless Everyone elses fault. Every time.

@RealSkipBayless Skip shut up! He is average at best!

@RealSkipBayless Remember when he used to sell us on Tebow ?

@RealSkipBayless Center’s fault. Weather’s fault. Stefanski’s fault. Everyone’s fault BUT the QB, not when Skippy is fawning over you.

Skip Bayless believes the Browns should take advantage of Shedeur Sanders’ mobility

Speaking further in the video he made to react to how Shedeur Sanders is being used by the Browns after the 49ers’ game, Skip Bayless commented on the rookie quarterback’s mobility. He believes the Browns should take advantage of that in offensive plays.

“He is mobile,” Bayless said. “Trust me on this. I’m not saying he’s got his papa’s legs. I’m not saying he’s a chip off that block of Deion…. But she do or can move. At Colorado, they would call draws for him, red zone draws.

“They would let him run the read option. They would let him keep. When he escaped, he can move. I’m not saying he’s a speed demon, but he has athletic ability, shiftiness, where he can make you miss. Well, you have to let him ignite the offense by making a play.”

While he’s not considered a dual-threat quarterback, Shedeur Sanders has adequate functional mobility to escape pressure and extend plays within the pocket. However, he has the tendency to hold the ball for too long instead of making a throw, resulting in unnecessary sacks.
