Last year, Anthony Kim lost his wildcard status in LIV Golf after being relegated from the league, but he did not give up on the sport. However, the golfer stated that qualifying for the Saudi PIF-backed golf league was not his only aim going forward.
Last year, LIV announced that the Promotions Event would offer three top golfers a chance to play in the breakaway tour. This week, from January 8 to 11, golfers like Chase Koepka, Wade Ormsby, and Tom Lewis will compete in this event. For the unversed, Anthony Kim will also compete in this event at Black Diamond Ranch in Florida.
Ahead of the Promotions Event, Kim revealed that getting back on LIV was not the only thing left for him. In the presser, the golfer shared his wish to play competitive golf and stated:
“Obviously it would be a great feeling to make it back on LIV and qualify, but this isn’t the only thing left for me. I have a lot of things I want to do in the future and be competitive in golf also.
“There is so much more to life than golf, and looking forward to playing my best in the next couple years.”

Last year, Anthony Kim finished in the 55th spot of the LIV Golf Standings, which pushed him into the Drop Zone. Throughout the season, he could not secure a point in any of the 2025 LIV events. Despite his failure to maintain his wildcard status on LIV, Kim was not ready to give up, as he shared his vision for the future.
When Anthony Kim revealed his plan to keep playing despite facing relegation from LIV Golf
After his relegation, Anthony Kim shared videos of his golf swings on X, pushing on the “1% BETTER” motto. During the Moutai Singapore Open week, highlighting his hunger to improve, Anthony Kim stated that he wished to play for several years. He said:
“I am going to play for a few more years. I do not know how long I want to play golf for, but this is something I am committed to. I am motivated to play as good as I can, work as hard as I can, and the results will speak for themselves…”
In his statement, Kim shared that he would play in some events in the Asian Tour and the International Series and further stated:
“I am going to play some events (on the International Series and Asian Tour), but it is a long way over here. So, as much as I want to compete, you know, part of my comeback to golf is being with my family.”
Following his relegation, Kim has shown strong signs of improvement with his performance. His T5 at the PIF Saudi International was one of his first top 10 finishes in years. Apart from that, he has also made several cuts while competing on the Asian Tour.
