Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy-led TGL kicked off their second season several days ago. Before the season started, there were speculations regarding a women’s edition of the golf league. And now, TMRW Sports has announced the WTGL.
The Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA) and TGL announced the formation of WTGL. The upcoming women-only league is aiming to feature top talents from the LPGA Tour, who will compete at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens in a team golf format. As of now, WTGL is set to commence after the 2026 LPGA season.
Josh Carpenter from Sports Business Journal shared the news regarding Tiger Woods-led TMRW Sport’s upcoming venture and wrote on X:
“Long rumored, TMRW Sports is officially launching a women’s-only @TGL league. The “WTGL” will get started sometime following the 2026 @LPGA season”
Take a look at Carpenter’s X post on WTGL here:
Before Tiger Woods-led TMRW Sports confirmed that, Sports Business Journal reported last year that the league had filed trademarks for WTGL after extensive talks with the LPGA. In the 2025 CAA World Congress of Sports, LAGC owner Alexis Ohanian also claimed that he has been ‘bugging’ TGL officials to create a women’s league.
As the golf world finally witnessed the longstanding rumor that TGL was in talks with the LPGA, and the formation of WTGL became a reality, the LPGA Tour Commissioner shared his take on the news.
LPGA Tour Commissioner Craig Kessler talks about the impact of WTGL with Tiger Woods-led TMRW Sports
In a recent presser, Craig Kessler spoke highly of the LPGA Tour’s partnership with Tiger Woods-led TMRW Sports, stating that it reflected the Tour’s belief in innovation in the sport.
In his official statement, Kessler also reflected on the benefits of new formats in terms of audience engagement and highlighted what WTGL brings to the table. He said (quotes taken via PGA Tour):
“I’ve seen how new formats can engage audiences while showcasing both athlete personality and performance, and WTGL brings that spirit of innovation to the women’s game.
“It creates another global stage for our athletes — one that helps fans connect more deeply with them and continues to elevate the visibility and growth of women’s golf.”
Apart from Kessler, Tiger Woods-led TMRW Sports’ Founder and CEO, Mike McCarley, revealed that TGL was putting in efforts for WTGL after the league’s launch. He also commented on the team golf format of the WTGL, stating that it would engage new viewers and complement LPGAT’s global appeal.
