It was no surprise to see Tiger Woods asked about Anthony Kim ahead of the Genesis Invitational just days after the 40-year-old’s victory at LIV Golf Adelaide on Sunday.
Anthony Kim secured his first professional victory in almost 16 years in Australia this past week. Kim came from five shots back to provide LIV Golf with the league’s greatest moment to date.

Who is the greatest of all time?
Of course, Kim did not play golf for more than a decade before signing with LIV in 2024. With that, some are discussing where his comeback ranks among the greatest in the game’s history, with Tiger Woods‘ 2019 Masters win clearly a leading contender.
Woods’ body was put through so much punishment before he emerged triumphant at Augusta National for a fifth time. So few can empathise with Kim quite like the 50-year-old.
Tiger Woods lauds Anthony Kim following his win on LIV Golf
At one stage, Kim looked to have the potential to be Woods’ successor on the PGA Tour.
And it seems that Woods saw him going to the very top as he commented on what the LIV star has now achieved.
“Yeah, this kid hit it so good. He was on an unbelievable run when he won at Charlotte, and we played against each other at Congressional. He played unbelievable at the 2008 Ryder Cup. He had so much natural talent. He could hit any shot he wanted,” he said.
“Then to see him struggle in life and didn’t really want to play golf, didn’t really want to be part of golf, and for him to come all the way back and for him to win and to be as devoted as he is to his family, it’s a story in which you just have to wrap your heart around it because of the struggles.
“We can all relate to struggles. We all struggle in life. The longer it goes, the more tough times you’ve had. But for him to fight through it and for Anthony to get to where he’s gotten to, from the low that he was in, is something that, as I said, you have to just wrap your heart around it.”
Anthony Kim’s win reminds everyone to write Tiger Woods off at your own peril
Kim winning a LIV event seemed so unlikely. He was relegated last season – from a league where depth has been a big problem.
His game was trending in the right direction in the final months of 2025. But few would have ever imagined that he would catch Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau at The Grange.
Where will Tiger Woods finish if he plays The Masters this year?
Tiger is not ruling it out…
That should perhaps inspire Woods himself. He has not played in a PGA Tour event since 2024 and there are currently question marks over when he will return – if he ever will.
It has been difficult at times over the last 18 months not to write Woods off as he has dealt with several setbacks.
But Kim’s win provides yet another reminder that sport does provide the most shocking and inspirational moments.
Maybe there is indeed one more from Woods still to come.
