Tiger Woods’ absence from competition has raised numerous eyebrows across the golf world. While he played in TGL in 2025, the world-class golfer’s presence has been greatly missed across PGA Tour events and the majors. As the question regarding his return to competition looms over, a PGA Tour Champions event has jumped into the conversation.

Woods turned 50 on December 30, which is the eligible age to play in the Senior Circuit. On that day, the American Family Insurance Championship, a PGA Tour Champions event, wished him in an Instagram reel. In the caption, the event that will be held in Wisconsin in June 2026 expressed its interest in welcoming Tiger Woods.

“Tiger is 50! Wisconsin would LOVE to welcome you back to where it all started. See you June 5-7?”

Take a look at the Instagram video shared by the Tournament:

Tiger Woods has deep ties to Wisconsin, the place that witnessed his professional debut. The then-20-year-old golfer played in the 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open held at Brown Deer Park Golf Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Although he did not win it, Woods made waves with his performance and the hole-in-one on Hole 14 in the final round.

The post from the American Family Insurance Championship came amid longstanding speculations regarding Tiger Woods’ potential entry into the PGA Tour Champions roster. However, it is also worth noting that in the past, someone who has ties with the tournament expressed interest in the 15-time major champion’s inclusion in the senior circuit.

When the American Family Insurance Championship host expressed interest in Tiger Woods’ inclusion in the PGA Tour Champions

In 2024, Steve Stricker shared his take on the Cypress Native’s potential inclusion in the PGA Tour Champions. He talked with The Sweet Spot and revealed what he stated to his brother-in-law, Mario Tiziani, about Tiger Woods.

Referring to the two-man format of the American Family Insurance Championship, the host of the event said (quoted via The Sweet Spot):

“I told Mario, ‘If Tiger is coming to town I’m going to probably have to be his partner. He understood. I hope at some point we can get Tiger here. It would be a special deal for our community, for the tournament, to get him to come play in it.”

Apart from Stricker, who has been Tiger Woods’ Presidents Cup teammate before, some popular golf icons have vouched for Woods’ inclusion in the PGA Tour Champions.

Jack Nicklaus and Bernhard Langer have previously predicted that the former World No. 1 would join the senior circuit at some point. Ernie Els even urged Woods to join the Tour and claimed that the usage of golf carts would help the latter get into golf shape.
