The Tennessee Titans released cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, reports claimed on Friday. Sneed is now a free agent after playing two years with the Titans.

However, former NFL wideout Torrey Smith called out Tennessee for cutting Sneed due to financial implications.

“They could’ve made this decision last week but screwed him over. Think about situations like this when you complain about players taking what they EARNED,” Smith tweeted on Friday.

Smith won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens and the Philadelphia Eagles. He announced his retirement in 2019 after playing in the league for eight seasons.

The Titans acquired Sneed in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2024 offseason. He signed a four-year, $76.40 million contract with Tennessee.

Reports claim that the Titans will save up to $16 million against the salary cap with Sneed’s release.

Sneed won two Super Bowls in four years with the Chiefs, and some believe he might return to Kansas City for the 2026 season.

L’Jarius Sneed played just 12 games with the Titans in the past two seasons. He played five games in his first year and played seven games in the 2025 season.

During his time with the Titans, Sneed recorded 49 tackles, three pass breakups and no interceptions.

Earlier this week, the Titans signed defensive backs Alontae Taylor, Cor’Dale Flott and Josh Williams, before parting ways with Sneed.
