The last 12 months have shown beyond any doubt that it takes something incredible to upset Tommy Fleetwood.
Tommy Fleetwood had to deal with agonising disappointment at the Travelers Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Meanwhile, he was part of the European team who went into the cauldron of Bethpage Black at the Ryder Cup.

Throughout it all, the Englishman has demonstrated his class; proving why Fleetwood is potentially the most popular player on the PGA Tour.
But even Fleetwood struggled to keep his cool while watching Brooks Koepka at the US Open one year.
Why Brooks Koepka annoyed Tommy Fleetwood at the US Open
The 2018 US Open at Shinnecock Hills was a particularly brutal test for the world’s best players. Seven over par was good enough for a top 10 finish in New York.
Fleetwood came incredibly close to winning his first major title. He shot a 63 on Sunday to set the target at two over par.
Unfortunately, Koepka got off to a brilliant start in the final round, going three under par through five holes. He went on to hold on, making just one bogey in his last seven holes to get across the line and win his second major title.
And speaking on the Fore Play Podcast, Fleetwood joked that Koepka’s performance really got on his nerves.
“I ended up having an amazing Sunday and I lost by one to Brooks. Brooks was amazing down the stretch,” he said.
“It’s one of those things. Brooks was unbelievable in that tournament. I remember watching him when I came in and he had seven holes to play. He just did all the right things and it was really p—–g me off watching it. I told him that afterwards, like come on man. But he was amazing. And even if I was a couple of shots better, would Brooks have finished three shots better? It’s one of those.
“So you can never take something away from that. But I just look back on that and I would love to have given myself a better chance.”
Fleetwood a standout candidate to win the 2026 US Open
Many will probably be backing Fleetwood to win the US Open later this year. Of course, the event does return to Shinnecock Hills.
That win at the Tour Championship could really unlock Fleetwood’s full potential. He knows now that he can win on some of the biggest stages.

Could he really win this year?
And his record at the US Open is extremely impressive. It is the only major where he has three top five finishes under his belt.
He did miss the cut at Oakmont last year. But Shinnecock holds plenty of happy memories for Fleetwood, so he will certainly be one to watch in June.
